I recently read an article by one of my favorite publications — Staffing Talk.  The article discussed the story no one ever hears when it comes to temporary employment and staffing firms. It made a valid point in that employers get to essentially try employees before they buy them, and vise versa. Lots of great material in the article that I wanted to elaborate more on.

Staffing firms take away the need for hiring an expensive Human Resources Department.Many small and medium sized businesses can't afford to hire an HR employee on staff so the staffing will go to the president of the company or another decision maker, who already has so much on his or her plate. Staffing firms lend a helping hand with recruiting efforts and are often cheaper than hiring an in-house recruiter.

Staffing firms can typically fill positions faster than an in house HR employee can. Staffing firms are constantly on the look out for great job candidates. Many get dozens of resumes a day. A good recruiter is great at building their network of contacts so that when a client goes to them and needs a position filled fast, they know exactly where to go. Of course when it comes to manufacturing staffing, these positions can't always be filled overnight, but at Bear Staffing, we have paved the way to get them filled faster than most in house HR staff can.

Try before you buy. Temporary employment typically runs between three and six months. Following, most employers choose to bring on their temp employees on a permanent basis. By hiring an employee on a temp basis, you're making a minimal investment in them. You'll get to learn about them and they'll get to learn about you. When the term of their temp work is done, if it doesn't work out, no hard feelings. We'll handle the paperwork.
