Bear Staffing Uses E-Verify to Help You Keep Your Workforce Compliant

Posted July 21 2012

Only 38 percent of staffing buyers require staffing firms to use E-Verify, according to research released by Staffing Industry Analysts. E-Verify is the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Internet-based system that uses information from employees' I-9 forms to determine if they are eligible to work in the U.S.

Although a minority of the staffing buyers surveyed require E-Verify, buyers of industrial, logistics, and transportation staffing were obvious exceptions, with 78 percent requiring its use. Bear Staffing has been using E-Verify since 2009, making it one of the first staffing firms in the country to use and embrace E-Verify.

Why is this important? Employment eligibility verification is good business. It's also the law. E-Verify helps companies follow the law and employ a legal workforce. As an E-Verify participant, Bear Staffing will help you minimize your risk exposure and keep your staff compliant while staying on top of changing regulations, immigration laws, and expanding E-Verify requirements.

The Department of Homeland Security reports that more than 307,000 employers are enrolled in E-Verify, which is mandatory in some states. E-Verify is also required for some employers with federal contracts or subcontracts. As the Department of Homeland Security works to stop unauthorized employment, employers and staffing companies that use E-Verify become part of the solution in addressing this problem.
