Bear Staffing has partnered with Hopeworks ‘N Camden to ensure that youth who participate in Hopeworks training programs demonstrate a high degree of work readiness and professionalism as they enter internships with corporate partners.
Hopeworks ‘N Camden empowers inner city Camden youth to identify and develop their D.R.E.A.M.S. Dynamic, Realizable Efforts to Attain and Maintain Success. Hopeworks expands their learning opportunities and works with them to create a future of hope. At the heart of this program is technology training, including website design, geographic information services (GIS), computer networking and repair, and video, using state-of-the-art computer applications.
“Through college-accredited training in web development, trainees earn valuable life skills while learning to learn, thinking critically and solving problems,” said Patrick Keenan, Hopeworks ‘N Camden Formation Director. “Working with Bear Staffing to advance into corporate internships is an innovative developmental experience for trainees to experience forward movement and positive change.”
Once we have secured a thorough understanding of what you require from us, we will go to work and produce results that not only meet, but surpass your expectations. When it comes to producing tangible results in a hurry, we can compete with any firm, even the large national chains.
Trainees practice for the interviews with other trainees and Keenan, writing answers to their questions and completing a mock interview. They also develop a resume and solicit feedback as part of their interview preparation.
Based on a rubric developed by Bear Staffing and Hopeworks that summarizes core interviewing competencies, all trainees must pass an interview with Bear prior to interviewing with the internship site. Bear evaluates each trainee's interviewing proficiency using the rubric, develops an individualized plan for improving each trainee's interviewing skills, and provides a binding recommendation for the trainee.
Trainees who do not receive a recommendation must practice their skills and re-interview in order to pass. Recommended trainees proceed to a second interview with the corporate partner. After successfully interviewing, they're required to work with new trainees to prepare for them for the process in order to continue the learning.
Once trainees successfully complete their internships, they return to Bear Staffing with an updated resume and their supervisor's final evaluation of their performance. Bear reviews this, interviews them, and assesses their qualifications for the next internship. Trainees once again must receive a recommendation.
Bear Staffing and Hopeworks ‘N Camden are committed to fostering a community of peer leaders who transform their lives through opportunities for educational achievement and occupational advancement. By simultaneously engaging in academic tutoring and coaching in life skills, the youth of Camden can take control of their future.
