2014 Staffing Trends

2014 Staffing Trends

Posted

With 2014 already in full swing, we are already starting to see some of this year's staffing trends being carried out. Here are three we have our eyes on.

Companies will continue to rely on temporary staffing

You may recall last year in our 2013 staffing trends article we noted that there would an increase in temporary staffing. As noted by staffingindustry.com, the U.S. temporary penetration reached 2.06 an all time high. Throughout this year we predict this trend will continue.

Unemployment rates will continue to decline

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate went from 7 percent to 6.7 percent this past December. In addition, as noted by Kiplinger, economic growth will strengthen, averaging 2.7 or better for this year. There are several signs that point to the economy and thus unemployment rates getting better, and there may be a light at the end of this tunnel for those who are out of work. Needless to say, this is one we are keeping a close eye on.

“Big data” will play a more prominent role

As companies continue to adopt social media into their marketing mix, use of the cloud for business, and mobile, some serious data is available and it's playing a role in staffing and decision-making. More and more, hiring managers will start to collect data, from a variety of course and leverage it to ultimately find the talent they need.
